Il XIX Round di NRL ci riserva alcune sorprese ed altrettante belle partite, si parte con Rabbitohs v Dragons , e fa subito notizia l’ottima performance del figliol prodigo Mark Gasnier , che partendo dalla panchina è autore di alcune brillanti azioni e della meta che sancisce la vittoria per i Dragons e la retrocessione dalla zona play-off dei Rabbitohs.

Sul finale i romani hanno però messo un po' di più ordine tra le proprie fila e si sono riscattati fornendo buone prove e riuscendo alla fine a concludere delle buone azioni conclusesi con delle mete che hanno ammorbidito il risultato finale di 42 - 14.
Gli Spartans partono subito forte approfittando dell'inesperienza dei romani: è Catania Salvo che in rapida successione marca le prime due mete al 2' e al 6' minuto mentre Di Maura trasforma solo la seconda. E' lo stesso Di Maura che al 23' segna e trasforma la terza meta dopo un buon periodo di avanzamento della squadra catanese che costringe il Villa Pamphili nella propria metà campo.
A questo punto i ragazzi di Roma alzano la testa una prima volta e si presentano agguerriti in attacco con ripetute fasi che si traducono nella loro prima meta al 29' segnata da De Felici (ottima la sua prestazione con un personale di due mete e una trasformazione). I catanesi riescono però ad aumentare il margine con altre due mete in sequenza sullo scadere del primo tempo al 36' e al 39' rispettivamente con Sardella e Leone, Di Maura trasforma solo la prima. Si chiude così il primo tempo sul 26 - 04.
Al rientro in campo continua la marcia degli Spartans che però devono fronteggiare un Villa Pamphili decisamente più smaliziato e meglio disposto in campo. Nonostante la superiorità siciliana si traduca velocemente nelle mete al 5' e al 10' di Trovato di cui Re trasforma solo la prima, il gioco risulta più fluido e meno dominato dai catanesi che lasciano diverse iniziative al Villa Pamphili. I tentativi dei romani vengono premiati al 13' quando Marrone varca la linea che lo porta in meta mentre De Felici trasforma. Il costo dell'operazione supera i 5 milioni di euro , finanziati in larga parte dalla Regione Lombardia (4 mln di euro), e in parte dalla Provincia di Mantova (250.000 euro) e dal Comune di Viadana (750.000 euro).
I lavori partiranno in breve tempo per garantire la massima capienza dello stadio già a settembre, quando partirà l'avventura celtica.
